Kapap Academy Denver - Testimonials

Recommendations

In a World were thousands of styles are claiming for "realistic bases" KAPAP its one of the few were the instructors got a "real reality based" proved system, tested in real conflicts. Avi Nardia it is also an expert on traditional systems from Japan and this gives to his instructions a larger approach to the needs of the students in any culture. I Strongly recommend KAPAP to anyone interested on realistic Martial Arts.

To whom it may concern,

Having worked in Israel with counter-intelligence and internal security, and the Country's top anti-terrorist and home security forces [YAMAM, SHABAQ, MOSAAD], I have been both inspired by, and deeply impressed with, the Efficiency of KAPAP, and honored to have been a contributing factor. Major Avi Nardia is recognized one of the world's leading experts in anti-Terrorist tactics and his KAPAP program are second to none. I highly recommend Them both.

Well I'm André Zeitoon from Paris France (Muay Thai trainer) and I know Major Avi Nardia since many years ago. We've been training together in Israel at the Tel-Aviv University. Avi is one of the best master of krav Maga because he's mind is open to other martial arts like Muay Thai (with me) kendo, boxing, jujitsu and so many different martial arts and that's why Avi is in the good way of kapap.

Let me tell you also that the system of kapap is so real and so close to the reality in street fighting. By the way, Avi is my friend and is like one of my family because he understands that the name of martial art is not only fighting, it's also a spirit and avis got the real spirit of martial art.

See you soon brother.
Always yours

I have been training martial arts for 25 years and work as professional security instructor in Finland. I went for KAPAP insrtuctor course level 1 in Gothenbourg, Sweden. Major Avi Nardia  really impressed me by the professional teaching and knowledge of realistic close-hand-combat and self-defence. Mr. Albert Timen introduced the Israeli point- shooting in enthusiastic and efficient way. I realized that shooting really is also a martial art.

KAPAP is highly recommended for all the people from civilians to special forces. KAPAP is realistic with all the aspects one needs for surviving without any additional 'tricks'.

Both Avi and Albert are very highly skilled professional in their field and also very symphatetic persons which makes their teaching very enjoyable.

I am very happy becoming a member of the KAPAP family and really proud in presenting the system in my country.

"Speaking as a law enforcement officer, KAPAP has given me new insight into close quarters combat and is the best training that I've taken. It gives you the satisfaction that you have learned techniques that are truly useful, but it also gives you the desire to learn more and train even harder. Avi Nardia creates a professional but yet relaxed atmosphere for his intensive training courses. It truly is an outstanding student/teacher experience. Both Avi and Albert Timen are second to none in real world experience."

I have had the pleasure to get to know Avi Nardia and Albert Timen over the past year. I have been fortunate to work with them on a professional basis, as well as getting to know them personally. I have hosted a number of classes that Avi and Albert have taught for area law enforcement officers. They always present an outstanding class. They are very knowledgeable and they want to share their methods and techniques with officers. I have been in law enforcement for 25 years, and I believe that the techniques taught through KAPAP are some of the most effective that I have seen. They are practical and useful for the street officer. The experience that a person receives from Avi and Albert is second to none. They go above and beyond to make sure that the student learns the neessary information and techniques. I highly recommend KAPAP to all law enforcement officers.

It is hard to decipher what Martial Arts or systems are worth their salt these days. With so many people coming out with the system that promises results in a short period of time, so many people don't know where to look. For those of us in the Military and Law Enforcement world, our purpose and expectations can only be met on a daily basis with effectiveness and simplicity. Kapap, is the most practical, effective, and mission relevant system that pertains to our specific needs that I have found. I highly recommend it to any and all Military, Law Enforcement, and even those seeking a truly direct combative and defense system.

The purpose of this letter is to fully recommend the skills, leadership, expertise and experience of Avi Nardia to those who may seek to utilize and/or learn from them.

I had the fortunate opportunity to receive training from Avi within the past year as a member of our SERT unit. Our city has had a SERT unit for several years. Recently, our county requested that our team provide coverage for the whole county. To meet this request, we added several new officers to the team from around the county after an extensive background/testing phase. Initially, we conducted a two-week training course to instill basic tactics. Within a few months of the activation and after two 'call-outs', it was obvious that we needed to experience additional training. Through Avi's former employer, we arranged for him and his associate (Uri Kaffe) to travel to our location to train our team. This proved to be no problem for Avi, as he was willing to come to us to meet our needs.

The subject matter of the training that Avi presented included Israeli tactics in the following: Room entry/clearing, riot situations, weapon retention, use of force techniques, Israeli Kapap, law enforcement survival, hostage situations with aircraft and buses (one of each was provided by our department for training), suspect takedown/arrest, vehicle takedowns and many more. This list of topics is but a few of which Avi demonstrated his expertise. At no time during our training did Avi revert to a training manual for guidance. At no time did Avi offer 'down-time'. At no time did Avi's training drop below the level of 'high speed'.

To briefly explain why I feel that I can so highly recommend this training, let me elaborate on myself. I spent over 7 years on active duty in the U.S. Army with 6 months of that in Desert Storm for which I received a Bronze Star. After that, I spent three years working undercover in Philadelphia. For the past 7 years I've been with the Lancaster City Police, serving my last three years in our Drug Suppression/Street Crimes Unit. I've been a member of the SERT unit for five years and am currently a team leader on the entry team. At no time during my career and through all my experiences, have I encountered an instructor who has had so much to offer. Avi is a 'subject matter expert'. Our SERT unit is currently working on bringing Avi back on our own without seeking reimbursement from our municipality.

My recommendation, both personally and professionally, is that any department or unit that seeks training from Avi can and will benefit from it. Whatever the cost, the department and individual officer gets their money's worth. In addition to the expertise Avi offers, he always has a true story to reiterate his points and drive them home.

My address and department email is below if you have any questions. Thank you for considering this letter in your decision making process. Train hard and stay safe.

Sincerely;
Officer Roland W. 'Bill' Breault, III
Lancaster City Police

My name is Tomer a former combat soldier in the counter terrorism unit. I was also serving in Egoz unit - a special guerilla force unit in the Israeli army. I would like to share a few words with you about the "kapap" a most effective and efficient martial art. My acquaintance with Avi Nardia has started when I first joined the special counter terrorism unit of Israel.Avi was in charge of the martial arts and combat field instructor of the unit, and there he was teaching the "Kapap".Thats a martial art which deals with all kind of terror threats including all kinds of weapons. The kapap combines elements of speed, cordination, strategy, strength, flexability and spirit. It can be effective both on ground and in stances positions.

The "Kapap" Unlike other martial arts is more open minded and therefore can help you to deal with many self defenses situations in various ways. I also recommend avi as a very good and experienced weapons and fighting instructor.

I am a certified Krav Maga Instructor and I think that is the reason I love Kapap. My Krav Maga teacher was an amazing man but sadly, he was set in his ways. Even training in New York for certification brought new techniques that he was not aware of. These facts iterate how the world of self defense is constantly evolving and changing. After a few classes with Avi, these changes became more and more evident. With a huge cache of martial arts knowledge, Avi has managed to take the best of each style, and also improve upon them to produce the most effective form of self defense I have ever encountered. His classes are intense and you leave with a great workout and more importantly, practical knowledge that you can begin to incorporate immediately. For any age, ability, and skill level, Avi will impart an understanding of self defense that will give the student confidence, which is truly the best reward.

Good luck and see you soon,

My name is Aviram and I've studied Kapap / Lotar techniques with Avi & Chaim for 3 years. I am a modest sized man with no martial arts background (works in computers not in any Special Forces unit), and during my training I've learned VERY effective techniques that resulted in my ability to fight successfully much stronger and bigger opponents.

I'd like to thank you Avi & Chaim for your professional attitude and patience. I believe the way you instruct martial arts as well as the system you use, makes it accessible, fun and efficient to non professionals like I am. Classes were GREAT and you taught me to breath, relax, fight with my brain and think¦ (which I need due to my physical disadvantage). I feel very confident approaching any opponent and believe the basics will always stay with me.

Avi, I am truly sorry that you don't teach in Israel anymore - it is very difficult to find a good instructor like you - hope to get the chance to train with you again in the future.

Sincerely,
Aviram Zrahia

Letter of Commendation
To Avi Nardia
October 6, 2003

On behalf of myself and the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society, I am pleased to command Professor Avi Nardia of KAPAP/Lotar, for his dedication to the perpetuation of his knowledge and integrity to the martial arts.

Professor Avi Nardia holds a place of distinction among the elite of martial artists.  He has dedicated his life to perpetuating the cultural and educational traditions of self-defense around the world.  And he is a sterling representative of a select group of martial artists who are held in high regard by the members of the Hawaii Martial Arts International Society and both the Martial Arts Community and the General Public as well.

The Hawaii Martial Arts International Society recognizes the contributions of Professor Avi Nardia.  He has earned our respect by selflessly imparting his wisdom and instilling discipline and respect in our young and senior people.

Aloha,
Prof. Jaime Abregana Jr.

Dear Avi Nardia,

I just have to tell you what a great loss is for the Yamam and the Israeli police that you decided to leave and teach abroad. For the first time that I had the opportunity to work with a great professional in martial arts and "KAPAP" instructor, wish you were here!!! You've done a great job!!!
As a superintendent in the Israeli intelligence and with 18 years of experience in the field I can recognize the best ones and you are one of them.

Thank you for a great professional past and good luck for the future

Eric S.

Avi,

I have been involved in various Mixed Martial Arts for over 20 years. In that time I have been exposed to and taught a number of methods, systems and styles. In early 2005 I decided to take a look at what Kapap had to offer and got in touch with Avi Nardia to learn more about this system and some of the uses it has.

Following contact with Avi I attended the summer 2005 course on Kapap in the UK and can honestly say that Avi and his supporting instructors showed excellent skill in both teaching and application of the Kapap system. There teachings spread not only over the Kapap system but also to detailed knowledge of other arts and systems and there applications along with what worked and did not.

I found both Avi and David very engaging in terms of their instruction, expertise and overall approach to the training course and to the course attendees. To my knowledge both Avi and David are two of the most knowledgeable and professional instructors I have had the chance to study with in a friendly and conducive environment and I would have no issue in recommending their courses and teaching session to anyone.

Regards,

Jonathan Shelby

I've been doing martial arts since 1981 and Krav Maga for about a year now from Israel's top martial artist Moni Aizik. When I asked around the "dojo" who I should be training with during a business trip to Los Angeles, a few names came my way such as Gracie, Machado, then Avi. "Avi?' I asked. "I don't recognize that one". "He's Moni's top student and preferred trainer for Kapap and Krav Maga' the answer went. If Moni says he's the best, it's worth a try. So I went.

He had just flown in from Italy, had celebrated Rosh Hasahna and was still recuperating from jet lag. Yet when it came time to put out and instruct, he was razor sharp, motivational and extremely observant. We did simulated gun firing exercises, gun disarming and retention drills, knife sparring exercises, and finally some boxing/kicking drills for cardio. All in about 1 1/2 hours. It was concentrated and focussed. I learned quite a few new things there [ Canada has a few hang-ups about gun training and it's not easy to acquire it] and even corrected some of the approaches Moni had in some of the gun disarming drills. Because this was California and not Canada, he was allowed to show me what to do with the gun after the attacker was disarmed which rounded off all the countless drills Moni had me do during the year. I was able to make connections between the moves and the logic behind the moves and extrapolate them further into the disarming scenarios. Very valuable.

During the knife sparring, he was able to identify who I had trained with and even detected some fencing training I had performed a few decades earlier. "You trained with WR, didn't you?" he said. "You have done training in foil, haven't you?". I was amazed. He knew nothing of me. I had just arrived and had done a few knife sparring moves with my partner [an off-duty undercover cop from Beverly Hills - he puts all those movies to shame - and a super nice guy]. "How did you know?" I asked. "I've trained in Saber. I love what I can do to the opponent's hand with my saber's tip ..." he said with a shy smile. Wow. Not only does Avi have depth but he's also eclectic. He was able to motivate without shouting. He had a certain demeanor and competence that didn't require bravado or posturing. In other words, he was genuine and humble. A true teacher and someone you can trust - something which is sorely lacking in the martial arts world.

Next time I go to L.A., I'm clearing my schedule for the evenings and weekends. They'll be "Avi Time".

I have practiced under major Avi Nardia instruction before I was recruited to the Israeli air force as a field intelligence operator.

Before practicing kapap under Major Nardia I have practiced shotokan karate for 5 years, Olympic judo for 4 years and modern ju jitsu for 4 years, but all of the martial art training I had was nothing compare to the effective life saving techniques that major nardia thought me!

I think that the reason that Major Avi Nardia teaching is so good (and maybe the best) is because he has a highly professional martial arts experince combined with a real life threatening situation experince, that is why he knows what works and what not!

Just ask any Israeli or any experienced SOP what do they think of the experince that a major in the YAMAM unit has (in Israel this unit is a legend!) and at the same time ask an experienced martial artist on major nardia martial art background and you will get your best understanding of this man skills!

I thought my platoon in the army and even our unit krav maga instructor the techniques major nardia thought me and they all feel the same way I do (some of them have black belts in other martial arts).
But I think that the bottom line is that the techniques major nardia thought me saved my life several times!!!
Now, how can you argue with that?

Ron. S

It was a great honor to train and learn from Avi. He is a fountain of knowledge that anyone in the tactical or civilian realm should tap into. Thank God he is on our side.

To Whom It May Concern:

I've had the privilege to train with Mr. Avi Nardia on several occasions. He is an excellent instructor who conveys his knowledge in an easy to understand format. His system of KAPAP is no nonsense, itss easy to learn, and easy to retain. His take down and control techniques are the best I've ever seen. I became a believer in KAPAP once I saw Mr. Nardia take down and control a man twice his size with what looked like very little effort.

It's awesome being able to work with an instructor like Mr. Nardia, who actually has been on the front lines in the war on terror for over 20 years! He has real world experience to back up all the techniques he teaches. The majority of the instructors in the U.S. who teach Israeli fighting systems have never been to Israel, nor have they been certified by authentic Israeli CQB instructors. If you are studying Israeli fighting systems, it's a wonderful experience to train with someone who has instructed for Israel's top anti-terror units. Mr. Nardia can teach you what REALLY works and what doesn't!

Subj: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

1. It is with tremendous pleasure to be asked to submit a letter of recommendation on behalf of Major Avi Nardia.

2. As a career United States Naval Officer I have traveled, and continue to travel, a great deal. In official and unofficial capacities I've been afforded the unique opportunity of searching out and training in many traditional, non-traditional, and Close Quarters Battle (CQB) systems with a large number of extremely knowledgeable and arguably lethal individuals. In retrospect, very few of these well-meaning professionals carry the same level of skill, real world combat experiences, love of their respective art, and compassion for sharing their knowledge in its purest form that Major Nardia does. Major Avi Nardia is an enigma in the self defense world. When so many individuals are jockeying for economic status, or lobbying for the next black belt in the self defense world, Major Nardia has stuck to his steadfast position of sharing the art that he holds dear.

3. As a life-long student of real world self defense, there are a handful of instructors/practitioners today that I would willingly follow into combat or stand alongside when violence reared its ugly head on the street. Without hesitation, Major Avi Nardia would need only ask and I would be there. My son and I are better for having known and trained with Major Nardia!

4. Follow-up questions or comments to the undersigned are welcomed through Major Nardia.

Joseph S. John Jr.

To all who are interested in a life long experience, Kapap is not only a life saving course but it is also a course to build a stronger mind, and any one who should choose a career in law enforcement should have a strong mind that stays prepared. The academy can only teach so much in The little time that the instructor has,but Kapap you don't have a time frame. I have taken a CQB course with an excellent instructor (Avi Nardia).  I believe that in the one course that I have experienced I am better prepared for the line of duty. The Kapap courses are all based  on life experiences from an known expert in martial arts the course are very intense and hands on  but so enjoyable that you forget about the pain and the blood.I would suggest that all law enforcement officers should attend at least one of the several course they have to offer us, I know that I'm looking forward to the air marshal course in jan, 06, I would also take any course that Avi Nardia is the instructor if because you can bet it will be intense and I'm a person who wants the best to help keep myself and my fellow officers as safe as possible.

SINCERLY,
OFFICER COLLARD

I have known Avi Nardia for several years now, and I'm proud to call him a friend. I can honestly say that in my 15 years of Martial Arts study, I have not found a better no nonsense approach to real life fighting, than the Kapap system. His teaching and approach to the system, which his father helped develop, is very unique and you can tell the techniques he teaches have been used and proven in real combat.

I have trained on and off with Avi for years now, not only in Kapap, but also CQB, VIP Protection, Point-Shooting, Anti-Terrorism, Counter-Suicide Bombers etc, and his knowledge is overwhelming. Avi is as good a person/instructor as they come, period, always willing to share experiences and knowledge.

KAPAP is for every man or woman, who goes in fear of violence.
Training in KAPAP turns ordinary people into capable fighters ready to confront life and death engagements in a short period of time.  I highly recommend Avi Nardia, a professional instructor and friend.

I would just like to let you know how much I enjoyed the Instructor Course held in Corsicana, Texas last month. The training was extremely practical and more importantly applicable and it is very appropriate for the Personal Protection Detail that we work with in South America. Of great importance as well was the attention you paid to Combat Fitness which stressed the point that if you are not in shape you cannot perform adequately. Your experience in the field brought a true sense of realism to the training and the techniques and when I returned home Ireally felt like I had achieved something worthwhile. Good luck in all your future endeavors and we would have no trouble recommending you to other companies and associates.

Please accept this as a formal letter of appreciation regarding the recent training that I completed at your academy. I have completed various courses in the military and I have attended numerous private training facilities and academies as you know I would certainly say that the training I received at your establishment is excellent overall.. Your professionalism and ability to relate tactics and techniques to real world situations was very beneficial to me. I must add that your extensive background supports all the training that we covered.

In a world that now has thousands of self proclaimed 'counter-terrorism experts' you are a welcome change. Your past operational experience and knowledge compliment your training centre. It is nice to see Israeli combat systems being instructed by an individual that has dedicated his entire life to combat as opposed to some of the watered down systems instructed by individuals with minimal experience. I hope you continue to maintain such high standards and only pass the students that are deserving of your certificates. All the best to you and the academy.

"I have trained with many specialists from around the world. Avi Nardia's willingness to continually upgrade Israeli CQB and H2H through his own personal research and training is truly inspiring. I recommend anyone who is interested in information and thinking "outside the box" to train with this man."

Dear Avi, Albert. Please accept my greatest thanks for the training you provided at our sheffield club yesterday (May 20th 2006). I've trained for many years under many instructors - including European Kick boxing Champions, however all pale into insignificance when compared to the ego-less ease in which you both teach and demonstrate the essence of Kapap. Craig Welsh is our accomplished and respected tutor and the way in which you related your advanced techniques to the ladder of training Craig will provide in the future was a great motivator. Unfortunately I have become totally dissillussioned with the local Krav club I was a member of, but thanks to Craig/Debbie and now most certainly yourselves, I have rediscovered a waning entheusiasm for self and family preservation - for this you have my greatest thanks. I look forward to training with you in the near future.

Again, thank you
